Renovation 911 Characters
When it comes to renovating a house, most people deal with problems like mold and water damage. However, the Minnesota-based twin sisters on the show Renovation 911 tackle much bigger issues: natural disasters and technical accidents.
Lindsey is good at design and construction, while Kirsten takes care of insurance and logistics. They both work for Ungerman, Inc., their family’s restoration company.
Mrs. Leonard (Mindy Sterling)
When it comes to home renovations, most people don’t expect their homes to be destroyed by a tornado, a massive fire or other natural disasters. But that’s what happens in this new HGTV series, which follows Minneapolis-based sisters Lindsey Uselding and Kirsten Meehan as they help families rebuild their homes after major property disasters.
Sterling is a veteran television and film actress known for her roles as Frau Farbissina in the Austin Powers films and as the mother of Geoff Schwartz on The Goldbergs. She also has a long history of voice work, having portrayed Miss Francine Briggs on the Nickelodeon series iCarly and Principal Susan Skidmore on A.N.T. Farm, as well as the character of Elder Anabelle in Netflix’s A Series of Unfortunate Events.
On the show, she acts as a sort of consultant to her sister and helps them assess damage, reassure homeowners and develop a plan for reconstruction. When she’s not on set, she works as a public speaker on topics like the importance of “snaking drains” every month to prevent hair clogs and other issues that can lead to serious problems.
Lieutenant Dangle (Joe Lo Truglio)
Dangle is the flamboyant highest-ranking sheriff’s department employee and he always wears his trademark short-shorts, which he claims he wears for “mobility.” He openly harbors an attraction to Jones and flirts with her. In an episode from season 2, Dangle even thinks he fathered a child with her after they had sex together.
He has a tendency to get into physical altercations with suspects and is frequently seduced or tricked into doing so by the department’s female employees, particularly Wiegel (who once used her breast milk to lure a man in for sexual assault charges). Dangle also is fond of Virgil Medlock, the owner of Hotty’s, who gives the department free wings and new vehicles, among other things.
He formerly worked in the Aspen police department, but got kicked out for unspecified reasons. He has a tendency to make inappropriate jokes about women and minorities, including the “Delicious Milkshake Man,” who was harassed, pursued, and beaten by Dangle and Jones in several Season-2 episodes after wearing a milkshake costume to promote his restaurant.
Deputy Junior (Ian Roberts)
Deputy Junior is a stereotypical redneck who loves beer, NASCAR, firearms and Lynyrd Skynyrd. He provides much of the physical comedy for the show and performs many of his own stunts. He is also a member of the Upright Citizens Brigade improv troupe and plays a parody of Duane Chapman from Dog the Bounty Hunter.
Mrs. Leonard is an apartment resident who calls 911 5-6 times a week. Usually she is complaining about children being too loud, but they are usually only playing marbles and bouncing balls in her hallway.
Cherisha Kimball (Season 3- Season 5; played by Mary Birdsong-Covey) is a pious, tough, no-nonsense police officer who is the polar opposite of Deputy Johnson. She was presumed killed in the explosion at the end of the fifth season, but was actually revived. She has a recurring running gag of spitting pickle juice at the deputies. She also name-drops celebrities from the past.
